If you’re feeling stressed or anxious after the elections, you’re definitely not alone. No matter which way things went, the post-election season can be a major source of anxiety. But here’s the good news—as daughters of God, we have a different source of strength, comfort, and stability, and we don’t have to be swayed by the storms around us. Today, let’s lean into His promises and find our peace again.
1. Rest in God’s Sovereignty
One of the most comforting truths we have is knowing that God is sovereign. No leader is elected without God allowing it, and nothing happens outside of His control. Proverbs 21:1 says, “The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord; He directs it wherever He pleases.” Even when things feel out of control, God is still on the throne—and He knows exactly what He’s doing. Let that truth settle into your heart.
2. Cast Your Cares on Him
Jesus tells us in Matthew 11:28, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Post-election stress can feel heavy. But God didn’t create us to carry that burden alone. Take a moment to lay your worries at His feet. You can do this through prayer, journaling, or even taking a walk while having a heart-to-heart with God. Trust me, there’s freedom in surrender.
3. Be Mindful of What You Consume
Let’s be real—the news, social media, and endless commentary can easily make anxiety spike. The Bible reminds us in Philippians 4:8 to “think about whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and admirable.” That means being mindful about what we let into our hearts and minds. Limit your media intake, and instead, choose to focus on God’s truth, worship music, or scripture.
4. Find Your Peace in Community
God never meant for us to do life alone. If you’re feeling anxious, don’t isolate yourself. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 reminds us that “two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.” Connect with your faith community, whether it’s through a Bible study, a prayer call, or even just reaching out to a friend. There’s power and peace in leaning on each other.
5. Pray for Leaders and for Peace
The Bible tells us to pray for our leaders (1 Timothy 2:1-2). Instead of dwelling on fear or anger, channel that energy into prayer. Pray that God grants them wisdom, integrity, and a heart that aligns with His will. Pray also for your community and your country—that God’s peace would reign, and that people would be drawn closer to Him.
6. Anchor Yourself in His Word
When the world feels chaotic, there’s nothing like the Word of God to ground us. Isaiah 26:3 says, “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast because they trust in you.” Make a commitment to meditate on God’s Word each day. Even five minutes of scripture can help refocus your heart and mind on His truth instead of the noise around you.
Remember: You Are Not Alone
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). No matter what’s going on in the world, His love for you is unchanging, His plan for you is still good, and His peace is available to you—right here, right now.
